When I get behind on certain things, I tend to get anxiety when I think about catching up. In my mind, it's like I think I need to block off several hours at a time to get caught up all at once, rather than allowing myself to do things little by little. If I only have a short amount of time to work on something, I just force myself to not think about it until I have a longer amount of time. And then that longer amount of time never comes and I get more and more behind and the cycle continues. Blah blah blah am I even making sense to anyone? Probably not because I'm barely making sense to myself. ;)
That being said, since I rarely have several hours to block off for anything these days, I feel like I'm constantly behind on any type of "to-do list" I have. So I thought that maybe participating in these weekly wishes and putting my goals each week out there for everyone to see could be a way to hold myself accountable. Maybe it'll work for me, maybe it won't...only time will tell! So here are my wishes:
- Get completely organized and caught up at work. In case you missed it, my husband and I are moving to Spain for 10 months at the end of August. So this Friday, the 9th, is my last day at my job (woo hoo!!) in Downtown Tulsa and although I'm so stoked to be finished, I have a whole lot of work to do so that the company I work for can have a smooth(ish) transition for whomever will be picking up my responsibilities.
- Sell and giveaway articles of clothing we do not need in Spain or when we return home. Since we can only take two 50 pound suitcases each to Spain when we move, we had a lot of purging to do. J and I are both somewhat hoarders and have a hard time letting go of things. But when we were packing to move out of our rent home we did the best we could at separating our clothes into three categories: keep, sell or giveaway. Now my goal is to actually finish posting the items online that we are trying to sell and to pack up the giveaways into the car and haul them off to goodwill.
- Take baby steps at getting this dadgum blog organized and up-to-date! It's no secret that I'm constantly behind on my blogging. The main purpose I even have a blog is to document our lives. Since our lives has been so insanely (but wonderfully) busy lately, I have many things to document and share, but the busy-ness in turn makes it difficult to find the time to document it all! So...with this goal I'm also going to work on the problem I mentioned above about struggling to work on things little by little and take small steps on this one. The blog-related step for this week is to work on editing literally hundreds of pictures from the last couple of months.
Well, I'd say three goals is enough for my first weekly wishes, wouldn't you? And hopefully if nothing else, this little series will force me to post something at least once a week.
